In IGNOU, if a student fails to pass the term-end examination or receives less than the passing marks, they can appear for the re-examination (RE) conducted by the university. The IGNOU allows students to appear for the re-examination for a maximum of two times, for each course.

If a student is unable to pass the term-end exam in the first attempt, they can apply for the re-exam by filling the application form and paying the prescribed fee. If the student is unable to pass the re-exam, they can apply for the second re-exam by following the same process.

It is essential to note that the student must apply for the re-examination within the stipulated time frame specified by IGNOU. Also, students are required to submit the assignments for the failed courses in the subsequent year, even if they have appeared for the re-examination.

If the student is unable to pass the term-end exam or the re-examination after two attempts, they have to re-register for the course and appear for the term-end examination in the next available session by filling out the examination form and paying the required fees.

It is always recommended to prepare well for the term-end examination and the re-examination and seek guidance from the IGNOU regional centre or academic counselors if facing any difficulties in the course.
